Job Responsibilities
- Stay informed on current research and developments relevant to the company's functional product lines.
- Contribute to US project pipeline completion by conducting laboratory experiments.
- Set up and perform lab procedures in alignment with internal and external client expectations.
- Execute experiments as directed by R&D scientists, utilizing equipment such as glassware reactors and Parr reactors.
- Conduct analytical sample testing and application-specific evaluations in fields including agriculture, oilfield, paints/coatings, and personal care.
- Maintain accurate and organized lab notebooks documenting all work to support innovation and patent filing.
- Ensure lab space is orderly and safety practices are followed rigorously.
- Assist the R&D Lab Manager in managing laboratory resources efficiently.
- Oversee and optimize processes under your control, considering quality, legal, food safety (where applicable), and client requirements.
- Keep all documentation current and accessible.
- Halt processes if any issues arise that compromise compliance, quality, or customer requirements within your work scope.
- Collaborate with the R&D team to enhance laboratory methods and update stakeholders as needed.
- Adhere strictly to laboratory safety standards, including compliance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
- Deliver accurate and timely results, documenting findings in lab notebooks and project management systems.
Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Biochemistry, or Polymer Chemistry/Engineering required.
- Alternatively, candidates with a Bachelor’s in other scientific fields plus over two years of research lab experience or an Associate Degree with five years of lab research experience are considered.
- Experience from entry-level up to three years preferred, particularly in R&D laboratory environments; more than three years is an advantage.
- Strong preference for candidates knowledgeable in surfactants and practical use of Parr Reactors.
- Proficiency with computer applications including databases, word processing, and spreadsheets.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation abilities are desired.
- Experience with chromatography, spectroscopy, wet chemical analysis, and other analytical methods is beneficial.
- Formulation experience within agricultural, home care, or coating industries is a plus.
- English proficiency is required; bilingual skills in Portuguese or Spanish are highly valued.
