About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Policy and Research Officer to join a prominent membership organization as part of their Communications and Public Affairs team. This full-time permanent position is based in Dublin, with hybrid work options available following a probationary period. Reporting directly to the Communications & Public Affairs Director, the role involves delivering well-researched policy insights, tracking legislative developments, and supporting domestic, EU, and international policy activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct robust research to guide policy development, consultation responses, and strategic projects.
- Analyze expert documents and comparative policies from various jurisdictions.
- Keep abreast of European and international organizations as well as legislative changes and public consultations.
- Interpret both quantitative and qualitative data, maintaining current awareness of sector and professional advancements.
- Draft policy documents including submissions, briefings, reports, articles, newsletters, and digital materials.
- Support public affairs and policy campaigns, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional initiatives.
- Coordinate EU and international policy efforts by liaising with key committees and responding to information requests.
- Assist committees and councils with agenda planning, documentation, and communications outputs.
- Build and nurture relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior representatives.
- Contribute to communications and public affairs functions by preparing updates, reports, and supporting campaigns.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum three years experience in policy, research, public affairs, or a representative body role.
- A relevant bachelor’s degree in politics, public policy, economics, business, media, communications, law, or a related field.
- Strong skills in research, analysis, and professional writing.
- Ability to critically assess information and make well-informed decisions.
- Familiarity with the justice, political, and media landscapes.
- Understanding of policy formulation within membership or representative organizations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of simplifying complex data for varied formats.
- Effective organizational, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in managing stakeholder relationships both internally and externally.
