About the Role
The Bank Hospital in Accra, Ghana, seeks a dedicated Renal Technician to join its team. This role involves assembling and maintaining dialysis machines while ensuring patient safety and cleanliness standards during dialysis treatments. The hospital is set to open in the second quarter of 2021, and this position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and assemble dialysis machines, ensuring optimal functionality.
- Monitor patients throughout their dialysis sessions carefully.
- Ensure safe operation and security of dialysis equipment.
- Administer local anesthesia as required for procedures.
- Explain the dialysis process clearly to patients to ease their experience.
- Adjust fluid removal rates for patients in response to clinical needs.
- Collaborate closely with nursing staff and doctors for comprehensive patient care.
- Maintain strict sterilization protocols for all operating equipment.
- Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations.
- Attend to patient needs with empathy and professionalism.
- Recognize and address patients’ emotional and physical concerns to ensure comfort and confidence.
- Educate patients on maintaining health post-treatment.
- Develop and provide operational training materials for staff to improve service quality.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess a diploma or degree in dialysis or nephrology technology.
- Registered with the Allied Health Professionals Council.
- Relevant clinical experience in dialysis treatment.
- Commitment to high standards of patient care.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Good interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and healthcare teams.
