Job description
About Talkiatry
Talkiatry is a clinician-founded virtual mental health practice dedicated to delivering quality outpatient care while increasing patient access to treatment through an innovative, clinician-focused care model and supporting infrastructure.
Role Overview
This position is targeted at independently licensed therapists who seek predictable W-2 earnings accompanied by full benefits, flexible scheduling within a structured outpatient framework, low administrative responsibilities, and well-defined caseload and documentation expectations. The outpatient model is deliberately tailored for virtual delivery rather than adapted from inpatient systems, ensuring well-organized therapeutic care.
Typical Daily Activities
- Fully remote outpatient therapy sessions
- Providing care to clients with primarily lower-to-moderate acuity issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, mood disorders, OCD, among others
- Standard 60-minute intake and follow-up sessions
- Maintaining a consistent outpatient client roster with clear goals
- No duties involving inpatient, intensive outpatient programs, partial hospitalization, or emergency/crisis calls
- Access to an in-house referral network including psychiatrists
- Comprehensive operational support covering scheduling, billing, intake coordination, credentialing, and licensing
Clinical Autonomy and Flexibility
- Full independence in treatment decisions
- Ability to influence schedule and availability within operational criteria
- Practice guided by evidence-based clinical standards
- Expectations co-shaped by clinicians promoting professional judgment and accountability
- Independent practice with accessible clinical supervision and support
- Administrative burdens minimized to prioritize patient care
Candidate Requirements
- Possess independent licensure as LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LMHC or equivalent
- Hold an active, unrestricted license with multi-state licensing support available
- Maintain two or more active independent state licenses (excluding CA, NY, and MA)
- Comfortable managing a stable outpatient caseload
- Strong clinical judgment, effective communication, and autonomous decision-making skills
- Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced yet sustainable outpatient setting
- Preferred experience in outpatient clinics, community mental health, hospital settings, IOP, or other structured clinical environments
- Highly desirable experience with structured, skills-based therapeutic modalities such as CBT, ACT, MI, or DBT-informed treatments
- Note: Position is not suitable for clinicians seeking licensure supervision or those wanting fully self-directed private practice; candidate will be part of a team
Compensation and Benefits
- Full-time or part-time W-2 employment options
- Base salary starting at $70,000 with potential to earn up to an additional $20,000 in incentives
- Salary increases based on tenure after 2 years
- Employer-covered health, dental, and vision insurance (up to full premium payment)
- 401(k) plan with employer matching contributions
- Paid time off, sick leave, and eleven paid holidays annually
- Paid parental leave and long-term retention perks including a 4-week paid sabbatical after five years
- Employer-paid malpractice insurance coverage based on occurrence
- Reimbursement and dedicated days off for continuing medical education (CME)
- Support for licensing including upfront coverage of associated fees
- Provision of necessary technology equipment
