Job description

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor Coordinator on a temporary contract to support a major international sporting event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on managing cost-related activities for temporary infrastructure projects from August 2026 through March 2027. Only candidates currently residing in Saudi Arabia will be considered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the creation and consolidation of cost plans, budgets, cost estimates, and cash flow forecasts for temporary infrastructure packages.
  • Oversee the creation and review of Bills of Quantities (BOQs), pricing schedules, detailed cost breakdowns, and rate analyses working collaboratively with both commercial and technical teams.
  • Work closely with engineering, design, procurement, and project teams to validate quantities, project specifications, scope, and commercial assumptions.
  • Support market benchmarking using supplier quotations, historical project costs, and current market pricing.
  • Track cost risks, budget challenges, and value engineering opportunities, raising concerns as needed.
  • Maintain and update cost databases, standard rates, and commercial records related to temporary infrastructure works.
  • Assist with commercial evaluation by coordinating bidder submissions ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Facilitate contractor commercial clarification meetings, documenting outcomes and follow-up actions.
  • Evaluate procurement strategies including purchasing, rental, reuse, and supply-and-install options.
  • Monitor advance payments, retention, provisional sums, deductions, and payment status.
  • Keep variation registers up to date reflecting approval status, financial impact, and forecasts.
  • Ensure all approved variations are correctly integrated into project budget, forecast, and contract documentation.
  • Perform additional tasks related to the role as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Construction Management, Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A minimum of seven years working experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or commercial management roles.
  • Preferred experience includes working on major events, temporary infrastructure, construction venues, or complex multidisciplinary projects.
  • Strong skills in developing BOQs, cost estimating, tender evaluation, valuations, managing variations, forecasting, and closing final accounts.
  • Familiarity with FIDIC contract formats or other internationally recognized contract forms.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, BOQs, and contract documentation accurately.
  • Experience using ERP systems or specific quantity surveying, cost management, or contract management software is preferred.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure packages such as Power, Overlay, Dressing & Signage is advantageous.
  • Professional certifications such as MRICS, RICS accreditation, PMP, FIDIC, or similar are beneficial.
