Quantitative Research Associate - International Development

About the Role

Join the American Institutes for Research (AIR) as a Quantitative Research Associate in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, you will apply your analytical expertise and research skills to support a variety of research, evaluation, and technical assistance initiatives, primarily focusing on international development projects in low- and middle-income countries. The position involves data management, quantitative analysis, interpreting findings, and assisting in communicating results. Additionally, you will contribute to organizational growth through proposal and business development support.

AIR is a nonpartisan, nonprofit research organization established in 1946 and headquartered in Arlington, Virginia. We conduct behavioral and social science research while providing technical assistance to address crucial challenges both domestically and globally. The International Development program collaborates with prominent donors like the Gates Foundation, World Bank, U.S. Department of State, and UNICEF to design and implement innovative policies and programs.

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist in gathering and synthesizing information including conducting literature reviews and policy analyses.
• Support the collection and examination of research and evaluation datasets.
• Perform quantitative data analyses and aid in reporting as well as interpreting research outcomes.
• Prepare various documents such as report sections, briefs, charts, and graphs to illustrate analysis results.
• Contribute to proposal development and business growth efforts.
• Oversee project management tasks including scheduling, coordinating meetings, and monitoring progress.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years' experience or a Master’s degree in social sciences or related disciplines.
• Proficiency using quantitative analysis tools such as Stata, R, QGIS, and Google Earth Engine.
