Overview
A manufacturing company based in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania is hiring Quality Inspectors with significant experience in heavy manufacturing. The role involves conducting inspections at various manufacturing stages, verifying documentation, and collaborating closely with production and engineering teams to promptly address quality issues. Candidates must be knowledgeable in ISO 9000 quality standards. This full-time position offers flexible shift options with long-term advancement prospects, along with relocation assistance for eligible applicants.
Work Schedule and Compensation
- Salary range: $80,000 to $95,000 annually, plus potential bonuses
- Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) with company matching, and paid time off
- Working hours include Monday to Friday on either a 1st or 2nd shift rotation, or exclusively the second shift
- Shift times: First shift starts between 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM and ends between 3:00 PM - 5:30 PM; second shift starts between 1:00 PM - 3:30 PM and ends between 9:30 PM - midnight
- Each shift lasts 8.5 hours including a 30-minute lunch break
Primary Responsibilities
- Verify that all components, subassemblies, and final assemblies conform to quality standards
- Devote approximately 60% of time to floor inspections and 40% to documentation, verification, and follow-up
- Inspect incoming materials, in-process items, and finished transformers for compliance with drawings and specifications
- Oversee quality checkpoints during multiple stages of manufacturing
- Interpret technical documents such as engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, blueprints, and specifications
- Conduct both electrical and mechanical inspections, including measurement and torque testing
- Ensure quality control documents are properly completed and retained
- Maintain the nonconformance log and track corrective and preventive actions
- Record inspection outcomes clearly and accurately, maintaining traceability
- Report quality deviations promptly and coordinate with relevant departments to resolve issues
- Adhere to ISO 9001 standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures
- Engage in root cause analysis, problem-solving sessions, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Calibrate, maintain, and use inspection and test equipment correctly
Requirements
- A minimum of three years of quality assurance experience within heavy manufacturing industries
- Proficiency and working knowledge of ISO 9000 quality management systems
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and electrical schematics with confidence
- Availability to work exclusively on-site at the Canonsburg facility
