About Beam

Beam is pioneering social impact by leveraging advanced technology and AI to solve significant global social challenges. With a rapidly expanding team, Beam fosters a high-performance environment where employees can make substantial impact, accelerate career growth, and enjoy their work. The company offers top-tier coaching, personal development budgets, and competitive compensation.

Beam Notes, a flagship product, assists frontline workers by reducing administrative tasks by over 8 hours weekly. Currently, nearly 100,000 frontline professionals across the UK, US, and Australia—including social workers, NHS clinicians, mental health practitioners, and safeguarding specialists—regularly use Beam Notes to deliver more timely and person-centered support.

Role Overview

This role presents a unique opportunity for a public sector bid writer who desires to build innovative bid processes from scratch rather than following established routines. As part of Beam’s expanding bids team, you will drive how an AI-driven company secures partnerships across the UK, USA, Australia, and Europe. You will craft a new playbook by integrating AI to enhance bid drafting efficiency and effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the entire bid lifecycle, from initial analysis to final submission, crafting compelling proposals that result in contract wins and broaden Beam’s reach among frontline workers.
  • Innovate bid writing methods by harnessing AI-driven efficiencies and establishing streamlined processes that position Beam ahead in the market.
  • Conduct strategic scoping to pursue only high-impact opportunities that align with Beam’s growth ambitions.
  • Create persuasive written materials beyond bids, including award entries, RFIs, and submissions for sales support.
  • Manage essential partnerships, such as coordinating the bid scanning platform and overseeing Beam’s presence on the G-Cloud framework, while collaborating closely with sales teams to track emerging opportunities.
  • Support Beam’s international expansion by providing procurement insights for the USA and Australia and maintaining relations with the Global team.
  • Mentor and develop the Bids Executive team by guiding onboarding, reviewing outputs, and managing their bid responsibilities to elevate overall quality.
  • Collaborate with sales as a strategic partner by delivering targeted training to empower the team in navigating complex enterprise procurement processes.

Candidate Profile

  • Demonstrated expertise in public sector bid writing, with a track record of winning proposals.
  • Proactive, energetic, and able to anticipate needs and inspire colleagues.
  • Excellent collaborator with the ability to build strong cross-functional relationships, including Sales, Trust & Safety, Legal, and Marketing teams.
  • Highly inquisitive, asking insightful strategic questions to understand and improve processes.
  • Comfortable thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments; startup experience is valued but not essential.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with bids relating to social care or healthcare sectors.
  • Hands-on involvement in public sector procurement processes.
  • Familiarity with international tendering, particularly in the United States.
  • Expertise in government frameworks like G-Cloud.

Benefits and Perks

  • Competitive salary range between £60,000 and £85,000 annually.
  • Equity ownership through EMI-qualifying share options.
  • Access to wellness resources such as therapy, coaching, and educational content via Oliva.
  • Personal financial coaching through Bippit.
  • Generous annual leave including 25 days, plus three extra days at Christmas and bank holidays.
  • Remote working allowance of up to six weeks per year.
  • Eligibility for a six-week sabbatical after three years of service.
  • Childcare support through a nursery scheme with Gogeta.
  • Healthcare coverage via Benenden Health.
  • Enhanced parental leave benefits: 18 weeks primary caregiver leave and 4 weeks secondary caregiver leave.
  • Annual £200 WellBeam budget for wellbeing and professional development activities.
  • Membership to Shoreditch Exchange gym (London office).
  • Pension plan contributions: 4% employer, 5% employee.
  • Free Calm meditation app subscription.
  • Discounts on bicycles and accessories through Cyclescheme, and technology products via Techscheme.
