Role Overview
The Project Manager will be accountable for ensuring successful project completion to the satisfaction of clients while adhering to Sewell's policies and the Construction Excellence culture. This position covers regional assignments throughout Yorkshire, with Sewell offices in Elland and Hull.
Working Hours and Location
Standard working hours are 40 hours weekly, Monday to Friday from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The position is regionally based within Yorkshire.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead projects as a unified team, collaborating with clients, subcontractors, design teams, and internal staff.
- Allocate appropriate resources and clearly define responsibilities within the project team to support effective delivery.
- Continuously evaluate team performance, set objectives, and identify training or development requirements.
- Establish clear expectations, promote high performance, and nurture collaborative relationships within the supply chain.
- Assist with producing and communicating clearly defined project expectations.
- Ensure project sites are well maintained, including site boundaries, access roads, welfare facilities, and offices.
- Take responsibility for health, safety, and wellbeing on projects by exemplifying best practices and fostering a strong culture of safety.
- Promptly identify, report, and resolve any quality-related issues.
- Minimize financial losses caused by waste, delays, materials, or substandard work requiring rework.
- Ensure project design aligns with the delivery plan, meets client briefs and maintenance needs, stays within budget, and complies with regulations and current legislation.
- Prevent breaches of environmental regulations, reduce disruption from work, and manage any negative environmental impacts effectively.
Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Valid UK driving license.
- HNC qualification or higher and a valid 5-day CITB SMSTS certification.
- Proven experience managing large-scale construction projects, including subcontractor coordination.
- Strong leadership abilities.
- Familiarity with programming and web-based document management software.
- High computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a close-knit team.
- Excellent communication skills for engaging senior clients and subcontractors.
- Effective organizational and prioritization skills.
- Proactive, positive attitude with flexibility in working hours.
- Working knowledge of current health and safety practices.
Desirable Attributes
- Experience with public and private sector clients.
- Possession or pursuit of relevant professional qualifications.
- Training or experience in BIM (Building Information Modelling).
