GIB® Plasterboard, a trusted name in New Zealand's construction sector and part of Fletcher Building, has been contributing to the construction of healthier and more sustainable homes for nearly a century. The company operates two manufacturing plants located in Tauranga and Christchurch, supported by nationwide distribution facilities.
Role Summary
We are seeking dependable, hands-on, and safety-conscious Production Operators to join our Board Plant manufacturing team at the Tauriko site. The plant features highly automated production lines utilizing advanced machinery, process control, and real-time quality monitoring systems ensuring smooth, continuous operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead production operations under the supervision of the Production Manager, managing approximately 10 direct reports.
- Provide line supervision alongside hands-on tasks to meet production targets, maintain product quality, satisfy supply and customer service standards, and promote a robust health and safety culture.
- Collaborate closely with teams to foster continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Working Hours
This role operates on a rotating schedule alternating between day and night shifts, typically involving three to four 12-hour shifts Monday through Friday. Occasional work on Saturdays may be necessary; however, Sundays are always off. Shift rosters are prepared well in advance and equitably distributed across the team.
Candidate Profile
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a technical manufacturing environment with leadership responsibilities.
- Proven track record of successfully leading teams to achieve goals.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, technical expertise, and problem-solving abilities.
- Capability to influence and build effective partnerships with manufacturing personnel.
- Exceptional planning, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness and ability to work 12-hour shifts across day and night rotations.
