Role Overview
As a Product Owner for Data, Analytics & AI, you serve as the crucial bridge between overarching product vision and practical execution. Your main responsibility is transforming the product strategy into detailed development tasks and guiding cross-functional teams to successful delivery. Collaborating closely with Product Management, fellow Product Owners, developers, and business stakeholders, you decompose roadmaps into actionable items, maintain the team backlog, and represent the needs of customers and markets. Your expertise in Product Management principles coupled with a co-innovation mindset is key to continuously enhancing and delivering high-impact, quality solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage, prioritize, and refine the team backlog to prepare items for sprint planning aligned with product strategy.
- Lead backlog grooming sessions, partnering with UX designers and engineering teams to clarify specifications and ensure items are testable.
- Establish and enforce the team’s Definition of Ready and Definition of Done criteria.
- Oversee the achievement of Program Increment objectives and identify potential risks and dependencies.
- Evaluate and accept or reject completed backlog items based on acceptance criteria and quality standards.
- Track and communicate team performance metrics using backlogs, boards, and KPIs to maintain transparency.
- Ensure all backlog items incorporate baked-in quality, testability, and automation readiness.
- Coordinate with other Product Owners and architects to oversee dependencies, interface management, and system integration requirements.
- Promote ongoing process and product improvement initiatives.
Qualifications and Experience
- Demonstrable success as a Product Owner in agile software development environments focused on Data, Reporting, and AI.
- Strong aptitude for translating strategic roadmaps into detailed backlog tasks and actionable requirements.
- Proficient with agile methodologies, especially Scrum and SAFe, and skilled in backlog management.
- Deep understanding of Product Management and enthusiasm for customer-led co-innovation.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management skills to clarify goals, align priorities, and involve customers.
- Analytical thinker with a structured, value-oriented approach capable of balancing competing demands.
- Fluency in English (verbal and written).
Specialized Domain Expertise
- Hands-on experience with live or near-real-time reporting, dashboards, and analytical data models tailored to high-frequency operational data.
- Knowledge of modern data and AI architectures, including event-driven pipelines, message-based integrations, and hybrid transactional/analytical systems.
- Understanding of data governance aspects such as data quality, lineage, access controls, and metadata management, particularly in regulated industries.
- Familiarity with Power BI and SQL Server tools including SSIS and SSAS.
- Experience with evolving data platforms into modular, product-focused, business value-driven solutions.
- Capability to convert use cases in reporting, analytics, and AI—such as performance monitoring, anomaly detection, and process optimization—into tangible product requirements.
- Practical experience deploying real data or AI products to production environments beyond prototypes or dashboards.
- Experience with Azure ecosystem and AI tools like OpenAI or Azure AI Services, including model tuning, prompt engineering, vector embeddings, and adherence to responsible AI standards.
- Bonus: Knowledge of MES data structures and operational data lifecycle across manufacturing modules.
- Bonus: Familiarity with how operational process variability influences reporting and analytics in manufacturing contexts.
- Bonus: Industry knowledge of the Paper/Board business sector.
