About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Procurement Manager to oversee and enhance procurement activities in a diverse manufacturing environment based in Abu Dhabi. This leadership position calls for a strategic expert with a solid background in sourcing and procurement within metal fabrication, galvanizing, steel processing, industrial chemicals, and other manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Formulate and implement procurement strategies that align with the organization's manufacturing goals and business objectives.
- Manage the procurement process for raw materials, steel products, galvanizing supplies, industrial chemicals, equipment, and other manufacturing consumables.
- Build and maintain robust relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and distributors both locally in the UAE and abroad.
- Explore and secure new sourcing avenues while negotiating beneficial contracts, terms, and long-term supplier agreements.
- Maintain steady supply of materials, optimize inventory levels, and actively seek cost reduction opportunities.
- Stay informed on market trends, commodity prices, supply chain risks, and industry advancements to guide strategic purchasing decisions.
- Develop, implement, and continually refine procurement policies, procedures, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure adherence to procurement governance and compliance standards while actively managing supplier performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments including Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Finance, and Projects to fulfill procurement needs.
- Lead supplier evaluations, audits, supplier qualification processes, and monitor performance regularly.
- Generate detailed procurement reports, perform spend analysis, and propose cost-saving measures for senior leadership review.
- Provide mentorship and development opportunities for procurement team members, fostering continuous professional growth and department effectiveness.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- Preferably an engineering background with specialization in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, Metallurgical, or Chemical Engineering.
- A minimum of 10 years’ procurement experience within manufacturing sectors.
- Demonstrable procurement expertise in metal fabrication, galvanizing, steel manufacturing, industrial chemicals, and surface treatments.
- Comprehensive technical knowledge of manufacturing operations, machinery, engineering materials, and industrial chemicals.
- Established network of trusted suppliers and industry contacts in UAE and international markets.
- Proven capability in developing procurement SOPs, policies, and governance frameworks.
- Strong skills in negotiation, vendor management, and contract administration.
- Familiarity with ERP platforms and procurement management systems.
- Fluency in Arabic and English with advanced written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent analytical thinking, leadership qualities, and stakeholder management skills.
- Current residence in Abu Dhabi or readiness to relocate to Abu Dhabi.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certifications such as CIPS, CPSM, CSCP, or equivalents.
- Experience managing procurement across multi-site manufacturing setups.
- Strong track record in strategic sourcing, supplier development, and leading procurement transformations.
