About the Role

Join Lucy & Yak as a Print Designer and take charge of crafting prints that embody storytelling, self-expression, and the distinctive joy of our clothing line. In this position, you will spearhead the creative vision behind prints, graphics, and surface patterns, blending innovative ideas with a strong commitment to sustainability to deliver beloved designs that align with our brand ethos.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and design original prints, graphics, and patterns that exemplify Lucy & Yak’s unique style.
  • Create compelling seasonal print themes, color palettes, and stories that balance creativity with commercial appeal.
  • Draw inspiration from trends, art, culture, and vintage references to create designs that reflect Lucy & Yak’s identity rather than fleeting trends.
  • Lead research excursions and present creative inspirations through mood boards, presentations, and concept sharing with the product team.
  • Design prints and mentor other designers to ensure a cohesive print framework within collections.
  • Prepare detailed print briefs and production artwork, specifying design intent, color schemes, scale, and technical requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Head of Product on seasonal creative direction and partner with Product Development to choose suitable materials and print methods.
  • Work closely with the Accessories Designer to harmonize apparel and accessory collections.

  • Engage with global print suppliers and mills, including onsite visits to bolster development and relationships.
  • Lead and inspire the Junior Print Designer and Design Assistant through mentoring and management.
  • Help orchestrate artist collaborations and creative campaigns for future lines.
  • Maintain organization of projects, balancing creative innovation with strict seasonal deadlines.
  • Support the design team during fittings and approvals of prints and fabrics.
  • Create and manage CADs, range plans, and presentations throughout collections.
  • Present creative designs confidently to senior leadership ensuring alignment with brand values and customer expectations.

Qualifications and Skills Required

  • Minimum of 3 years experience as a Print Designer in fashion or textile industry.
  • Exceptional skills in color theory, composition, print layout, and narrative design.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Google Workspace.
  • Experience with repeat pattern creation, graphic design, and developing production-ready artwork.
  • Understanding of various fabrics, printing techniques, and garment construction processes.
  • Knowledgeable about sustainable materials and environmentally friendly printing and finishing methods.
  • Strong presentation skills with ability to communicate creative concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
