Overview

We are looking for a full-time Principal Engineer, Process to provide expert technical support, guidance, and process optimization within a leading aero-engine maintenance environment. This role supports shop personnel by interpreting technical data such as Engine Manuals, Service Bulletins, Airworthiness Directives, and Inspection Evaluation Notices, ensuring compliance and efficiency.

Work Schedule

One evening shift per month (3:45pm to 12:15am) is required to support scheduled maintenance activities with prior notice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain process technical support and work instructions ensuring compliance and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage all Christchurch Engine Centre (CHCEC) repair process activities related to piece parts (in assembled or disassembled states) for designated engine products or service jobs under the Designated Service Provider framework.
  • Provide technical expertise for tooling and equipment, including process optimization and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Design and implement part repairs for V2500 and PW1100G-JM engine types, adhering to compliance, core standards, and environmental, health & safety (EH&S) requirements.
  • Review, design, and approve tooling related to repairs, both new designs and equivalents to existing tools.
  • Contribute actively to continuous improvement initiatives in line with RTX's CORE program.
  • Lead process certification efforts including Six Sigma methodologies, Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and conduct process reviews for assigned areas.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Required: New Zealand Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) or higher-level diploma in management or engineering related field.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in relevant management or engineering discipline.
  • Proven experience in data analysis and monitoring trends.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices.
  • Background in aero-engine Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) environments, especially with V2500 and/or PW1100G-JM engine experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of capital acquisition processes.
  • Experience with technologies such as Computer Numerical Control (CNC), RPA, and other relevant MRO equipment.
