About the Role
Based in Dublin city center, Codec is looking for a skilled Payroll Specialist to manage payroll operations for the company. This critical position within the Finance team demands precision, discretion, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic professional services environment. While it is a full-time role, candidates seeking part-time hours will also be considered. The successful hire will be hands-on, adaptable, and collaborative with Finance, HR, and external parties, continually enhancing payroll processes and controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee complete payroll processing for Ireland, Northern Ireland, and the UK; currently third parties handle NI and UK payroll, but there is potential to bring these in-house.
- Manage monthly payroll cycles, including adjustments for salaries, bonuses, commissions, pensions, benefits, and mandatory deductions.
- Ensure adherence to Revenue guidelines, PAYE modernisation, and applicable employment laws.
- Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll inquiries, addressing concerns swiftly and confidentially.
- Reconcile payroll data with the general ledger and assist with month-end financial closing.
- Maintain and improve payroll controls to ensure compliance and readiness for audits.
- Coordinate with external agencies such as payroll bureaus, auditors, and tax consultants.
- Collaborate with HR regarding onboarding, departures, and benefit management to maintain payroll accuracy.
- Support payroll reporting, including analytics, cost tracking, and special requests from senior management.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and automate payroll procedures.
- Be flexible to support other finance functions when workload allows, demonstrating a proactive, team-oriented mindset.
Experience and Qualifications
- At least 3 years of payroll experience, preferably within professional services or organizations with multiple entities.
- In-depth knowledge of Irish payroll legislation and Revenue requirements; UK payroll experience is advantageous.
- Proven ability to independently manage entire payroll processes.
- Experience with payroll management software such as Sage.
Desired Skills and Attributes
- Exceptional attention to detail with a strong emphasis on accuracy and compliance.
- Commercially minded with awareness of payroll's influence on financial reporting and business operations.
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach capable of working autonomously.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with Finance, HR, and senior leadership.
- Comfortable within a hybrid work setup, committing to at least one day on-site weekly in Dublin 2 with remote work for the remainder.
- High standards of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism.
Why Join Codec?
- Be part of an expanding, ambitious tech firm that values strong governance and leadership.
- Engage directly with senior Finance and HR leaders in a role with significant impact.
- Enjoy a flexible hybrid working environment.
- Play a key role in refining payroll processes as the company scales.
