Role overview
Benevity is hiring a Payroll Administrator to join its Finance team in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. In this position, you will handle day-to-day payroll operations, ensure wages, taxes, and deductions are calculated accurately, and work closely with the Senior Payroll Specialist and People Team. You will also maintain employee records, support compliance, answer payroll questions, and help keep payroll processes running smoothly across a global workforce.
Key responsibilities
- Run payroll from end to end for employees, including salaries, bonuses, deductions, and leave balances, and coordinate payroll updates through to fund release and employee deposit timing.
- Partner with the People Team to receive payroll changes on time and translate them into accurate payroll outcomes.
- Keep payroll practices aligned with current federal, state/provincial, and local legal requirements.
- Maintain complete and current payroll records for all employees.
- Prepare payroll activity reports for leadership review.
- Act as a professional contact for employee payroll questions and resolve discrepancies or errors promptly.
- Reconcile payroll general ledger accounts against supporting records.
- Enter and review/approve expense report data.
- Perform pay-period to pay-period analysis.
- Update internal documentation for payroll processes, timelines, changes, and deadlines across global teams.
- Support benefits administration, including enrollment and accurate payroll deductions.
- Use payroll software to process payroll and recommend improvements that increase efficiency and accuracy.
Experience and requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in payroll administration or a similar role, with full-cycle payroll exposure.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based payroll platforms such as ADP (Canada), JustWorks (U.S.), and DEEL (International).
- Working knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll tax and wage regulations.
- Strong focus on accuracy and detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.
- Good numerical and analytical ability.
- Clear communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Oracle NetSuite ERP experience is considered an advantage.
