Officer - Research and Development

About the Role

The Officer - R&D will be responsible for conducting experiments focused on the creation of immunodiagnostic tools, particularly ELISA assays and rapid card tests. This position entails molecular testing on clinical samples as necessary, along with meticulous data management and record upkeep within the R&D department. The role also involves assisting with technology transfer, establishing manufacturing processes, preparing sample panels, and inventory management including ordering and updates.

Candidate Profile

• Possess a Master's degree (M.Sc.) in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Microbiology, or Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Have between 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrate excellent time management and problem-solving skills, with strong communication abilities across verbal, written, and listening domains, complemented by a team-player mindset.
• Maintain strict confidentiality, trustworthiness, flexibility, and respect, especially in quality control responsibilities.
• Preferably have experience in the In Vitro Diagnostics (IVD) sector.
• Expertise in the development of in-vitro diagnostic kits including ELISA and rapid card assays.
• Strong scientific acumen and technical proficiency in diagnostics and life sciences for product research and development.
• Ability to design and prototype diagnostic products to maintain a market competitive advantage.
• Imbue innovative, creative thinking along with strategic planning capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain documentation adhering to ISO 13485 standards, ensuring all regulatory compliance requirements are met.
• Accurately maintain R&D data and utilize technology-driven methods according to company policy, ensuring raw data is properly logged.
• Lead R&D projects covering design, development, process improvement, clinical trials, troubleshooting, documentation, cost control, and quality assurance.
• Offer technical and scientific assistance to R&D, production, and product management teams.
• Ensure proper management and disposal of biohazard waste according to SOPs; additionally, instruct junior staff on these practices.
• Authorized to develop procedures, protocols, and validate R&D logbooks.
