Role Overview

This position places you within the North East Inpatient Occupational Therapy Team at Stobhill Hospital, supporting individuals with mental health issues through therapeutic activities that encourage independence, wellness, and recovery. Collaborating closely with Occupational Therapists, you will deliver person-focused care both in hospital and community settings. Key Responsibilities

• Assist with planned therapeutic programs and activities for people with mental health challenges.
• Lead group and individual therapy sessions under Occupational Therapists' supervision.
• Participate in assessments and provide observations on patient progress and functions.
• Develop positive therapeutic connections with service users, their families, and multidisciplinary team members.
• Keep thorough and accurate clinical records complying with professional standards.
• Contribute to clinical governance initiatives, quality improvements, and maintain safe therapy environments.
• Support patients within hospital and community contexts to achieve therapeutic goals maximizing their independence.

Qualifications and Experience

• Previous experience in care, health, social support, or community roles.
• Relevant technical qualification such as City & Guilds or Health & Social Care certificate, or equivalent experiential background.
• Capability to independently engage individuals and groups, with awareness of when to seek guidance.
• Effective communication, interpersonal, and observational competencies to interact successfully.
• Skills in leisure, creative, or practical activities that can complement therapy interventions.
• Strong organizational awareness, including health and safety compliance and professional ethics.
• Dedication to continuous professional growth and flexible working to accommodate service demands.

Additional Information

• Applicants must hold a full UK driving licence; this role is not eligible for sponsorship or Certificates of Sponsorship (COS).
• Work schedule is Monday to Friday, 08:30–16:30, based at Stobhill Hospital.
• Permanent, full-time employment.
