About the Role
The Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) is seeking a Nursing Scheduling Clerk to support the Nursing Department at Deer Lodge Centre. This position is accountable to the Scheduling Manager and involves coordinating daily and weekly staffing replacements in collaboration with various nursing and management staff. The clerk will maintain scheduling and attendance records for over 600 nursing employees using computerized scheduling software and respond to inquiries related to contract benefits, pay statements, and complaints. The role fosters positive relations between the Nursing Department, nursing units, and other departments.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily and weekly nursing staffing replacements alongside management and coordinators.
- Maintain computerized scheduling and attendance records for nursing personnel exceeding 600 employees.
- Address nursing staff inquiries about contracts, pay, and complaints.
- Promote cooperative relations between nursing and other centre departments.
- Comply with health and safety policies, report health or safety incidents, and use personal protective equipment per guidelines.
Requirements
- Completion of secondary school and formal secretarial education or equivalent experience.
- Proficient with computers, ESP software, and word processing.
- Experience in drafting correspondence, mail handling, and call directing.
- Demonstrated knowledge of WRHA's vision and values, Deer Lodge Centre's mission and code of conduct, and relevant legislative acts such as the Personal Health Information Act and Protection of Persons in Care Act.
- Understanding of collective agreements, agency contracts, budget constraints, and office filing procedures.
- Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to prioritize, manage time, and perform under pressure.
- Typing speed of at least 65 words per minute with a maximum 5% error rate.
- Self-motivated, tactful, courteous, cooperative, flexible, and reliable.
- May need to work extended hours and be exposed to hazards, including aggressive individuals.
- Completion of current criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), child abuse registry, and adult abuse registry checks is required prior to employment.
Additional Information
- This position is non-union, part-time (0.5 FTE), with anticipated shifts during days and weekends.
- Work location is Deer Lodge Centre, Winnipeg, Manitoba; work arrangement is in-person.
- Daily work hours total 7.5 with annual base hours of 1950.
