Role Overview
The Flex Nurse Educator is responsible for delivering comprehensive educational support to patients managing chronic illnesses, focusing on medication instruction and adherence. This role combines virtual communication through phone, video conferencing, email, and secure messaging, with occasional on-site visits during staffing gaps or leaves of absence to maintain consistent coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Educate patients about disease management and appropriate medication usage to encourage adherence and facilitate meaningful communication with healthcare providers.
- Assist patients through their treatment paths by overcoming access challenges and promoting behavioral modifications.
- Ensure precise record-keeping, adhere to established protocols, and comply with key performance indicators and standards.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, engage in continuing education, and support onboarding activities for new team members.
- Coordinate resources and connect patients to relevant program support services.
- Contribute to continuous professional growth and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Current Registered Nurse license; preference for multi-state licensure and readiness to acquire additional state qualifications.
- At least five years of clinical experience in settings such as hospitals, home health, pharmaceutical, or biotechnology sectors.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is preferred, along with prior experience acting as a patient ambassador.
- Strong communication, organizational, and time management capabilities.
- Comfortable with virtual communication platforms, Microsoft Office suite, and mobile technologies.
- Willingness to travel up to 50%, possession of a valid driver's license, and availability for evening and weekend shifts.
