About Rocket Lab

Rocket Lab is a comprehensive space enterprise offering responsive launch services, spacecraft design and manufacture, payloads, and satellite components. Our work supports vital space missions including Earth observation, climate initiatives, national security, and technological advancement. Our Electron rocket is the second most launched U.S. rocket annually, with over 230 satellites deployed to orbit. We are advancing the Neutron medium-lift reusable launch vehicle to serve larger constellation deployments.

About the Role

As a Neutron Composite Technician, you will focus primarily on manufacturing pressurized tanks, unpressurized sections, and fairings on the Neutron’s S1 and S2 structures. This role requires extensive knowledge of composite fabrication methods and openness to innovative manufacturing techniques. You will closely collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement test programs on components at multiple scales. Delivering cost-effective and lean production solutions with accurate timeline estimation is vital for success.

Responsibilities

  • Manufacture composite parts including pressurized tanks, unpressurized sections, and fairings for Neutron launch vehicle S1 and S2.
  • Apply and explore advanced composite manufacturing techniques including prepreg material handling, core bonding, splicing, and resin infusion.
  • Support research and development activities by collaborating with stakeholders on test campaigns and component validation.
  • Identify and resolve handling and logistical challenges using prior industry experience and problem-solving skills.
  • Balance fast-paced development needs with achieving final product technical specifications.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of industry experience in advanced prepreg composite manufacturing.
  • Proficient in core bonding, splicing, and resin infusion processes.
  • Broad manufacturing experience within aerospace or related industries.
  • Basic computer literacy and excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information

This position is based in Warkworth, Auckland, New Zealand, requiring onsite work. Due to compliance with U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must meet citizenship requirements, specifically eligibility to access ITAR-regulated equipment and data. Background checks including nationality verification will be conducted before employment offers.
