Mobile Vehicle Technician

About the Role

Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician within our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division, a forward-thinking area focused on delivering planned automotive repairs and servicing directly to members at their homes or workplaces. This role eliminates emergency callouts and unpredictable shifts, enabling you to work from a structured schedule with all necessary tools and support provided.

Work Environment

Operating primarily in the Bournville area and nearby locations such as Selly Oak, Northfield, Kings Norton, and Stirchley, you will travel locally to complete scheduled appointments. Each day starts with a clear digital agenda, allowing you to efficiently focus on performing thorough servicing, diagnostics, repairs, safety checks, and offering expert advice to members.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine vehicle servicing and in-depth repairs normally done in workshops.
• Perform vehicle diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Conduct vehicle safety inspections complying with RAC standards.
• Provide members with recommendations and support based on your inspections.
• Operate according to a scheduled plan, avoiding reactive callouts.

Candidate Requirements

• Either an NVQ Level 2 in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with minimum 2 years of relevant experience.
• Or at least 5 years of experience working as a vehicle technician or mechanic.
• Possess a full UK driving license with fewer than six points.

Working Hours and Remuneration

• Work 40 hours weekly with core hours from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, including one Saturday in every four.
• Competitive base salary of £40,178, with on-target earnings reaching up to £52,000.
• Guaranteed overtime option available, increasing the base salary to £44,385 plus additional overtime and bonus opportunities.
