About the Role
We are looking for a meticulous and proactive Mechanical Project Engineer to lead efforts in pre-mobilisation, design coordination, and oversee project execution at Primech Building Services Ltd. This position requires managing design surveys, tender reviews, client interactions, and procurement activities to ensure smooth project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead detailed design surveys and accurately convey information to the design team.
- Review tenders thoroughly with focus on design aspects, project timelines, and risk assessment.
- Facilitate design-related Q&A sessions with clients and the project delivery team.
- Manage RFIs by submitting and tracking responses to clarify design and project issues.
- Prepare procurement documentation and complete technical submittals.
- Develop project schedules and identify major risks.
- Calculate labour and material requirements for projects.
- Liaise closely with procurement to guarantee materials, equipment, and plant orders are fulfilled before mobilisation.
- Issue Invitations to Tender (ITT), assess subcontractor quotes, and work with the commercial team for contract awards.
- Support communication related to design coordination.
- Assist project and contracts managers in ensuring rigorous quality assurance across projects.
- Take ownership of contractor design portion elements specific to projects.
- Create detailed site instructions that outline required work, location, scheduling, cost implications, and client-driven changes for management approval.
- Ensure all commissioning documentation complies with design specifications.
- Compile and distribute thorough handover documents, including operations and maintenance manuals.
Candidate Requirements
- Possess HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical or Electrical disciplines.
- Demonstrated ability to manage time efficiently while handling multiple projects concurrently.
- Strong attention to detail with accuracy in all tasks.
- Comprehensive knowledge of British Standards applicable to mechanical and/or electrical sectors.
- Self-motivated with excellent communication skills capable of engaging from site-level staff to senior management.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety protocols and best practices relevant to mechanical/electrical operations.
- Skilled in performing investigations and preparing detailed reports.
- Previous experience in a comparable role is required.
- Professional conduct in client interactions.
- Possession of a full UK driver's licence.
