Overview
The Materials Planning Coordinator supports the Materials Planning Manager in various administrative and operational tasks to facilitate the timely and accurate supply of materials for production and business operations. This role involves managing data entry, communicating effectively with suppliers, monitoring inventory status, and ensuring the smooth movement of materials throughout the supply chain. The coordinator plays a vital part in sustaining efficient materials planning to meet production objectives.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Materials Planning Manager in preparing material forecasts and schedules.
- Accurately record and update data related to material needs in planning systems.
- Maintain efficient material flow aligned with production timelines.
- Monitor inventory levels and notify the team when stock approaches reorder or safety thresholds.
- Track material movements to keep inventory records precise.
- Collaborate with warehouse personnel to confirm stock levels and update inventory databases accordingly.
- Enter data on material demand forecasts and inventory in ERP or materials planning software.
- Organize and maintain documentation related to material planning activities.
- Prepare reports regarding material requirements and stock levels.
- Support data collection and analysis for forecasting material demand.
- Monitor adjustments in production schedules or orders that might impact material needs.
- Assist in modifying material plans in response to production or demand fluctuations.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum educational requirement: High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or related discipline is advantageous.
- Experience ranging from 1 to 3 years in materials planning, supply chain, or administrative roles, preferably with specialized or high-value materials.
- Familiarity with materials planning tools and ERP systems.
- Strong organizational capabilities and effective time management.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, alongside interpersonal abilities.
- Basic knowledge of materials planning processes and relevant regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
