Position Overview
PhoenixTeam invites applications for a Manual Tester role to join cross-functional teams working on software quality assurance within federal IT modernization projects. The primary responsibility is to conduct manual testing to verify that applications fulfill functional, usability, and regulated environment quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze requirements, user stories, and design documents to comprehend intended system functionality.
- Create, plan, and execute manual test cases and scenarios.
- Conduct functional, system, integration, regression, and user acceptance testing.
- Log, track, and document defects using issue tracking tools.
- Verify defect resolution to ensure problems are fixed before product releases.
- Work closely with developers, QA teams, and stakeholders to clarify specifications and resolve issues.
- Confirm applications meet business needs and usability criteria.
- Maintain accurate records of testing activities, outcomes, and defects.
- Contribute to ongoing enhancements of testing processes and quality standards.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum two years' experience in manual testing or quality assurance roles.
- Familiarity with testing methodologies and software development/test life cycles (SDLC/STLC).
- Proven ability to write and execute detailed test cases and plans.
- Experience using defect tracking software, for example, Jira or Azure DevOps.
- Excellent attention to detail and analytical thinking skills.
- Capability to collaborate effectively within Agile or Scrum teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Past experience supporting projects within federal government or regulated sectors.
- Knowledge of Agile collaboration tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Basic understanding of APIs and backend system operations.
- Exposure to test automation principles and tools is a plus.
- Experience performing usability and accessibility testing.
