Overview
Qatar Airways is offering a key position within its Group Risk, Safety & Security team based in Doha. The Manager of the Safety Management System (SMS) will oversee SMS implementation in the Technical Division, ensuring safety processes align with regulations and promote a robust safety culture to achieve organizational safety goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain effective safety management processes across the Technical Division to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Advance the organization's safety policy and nurture a positive safety culture in collaboration with Technical Management.
- Develop and execute safety performance monitoring programs to track safety health and outcomes.
- Continuously enhance the Safety Management System to maintain relevancy and accuracy.
- Lead hazard identification and risk assessment initiatives using appropriate procedures and tools within the division.
- Oversee mitigation actions, working with management to guarantee timely risk reduction.
- Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to safety oversight committees ensuring prompt corrective actions.
- Track safety metrics against established policies and objectives using defined indicators and targets.
- Document and review key safety processes regularly to maintain compliance and effectiveness.
- Ensure availability and quality of safety training incorporating human factors from investigations and audits.
- Facilitate safety communications ensuring awareness of safety activities and critical updates through regular meetings.
- Support the Safety Action Group’s hazard analysis and effectiveness reviews following investigations and audits.
- Perform additional duties assigned by the department head.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic Engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 8 years’ professional experience, including roles within Continuing Airworthiness, Maintenance, or Quality Assurance environments.
- Experience with safety management systems and a minimum of 3 years as an internal or certified auditor.
- Training and familiarity with QCAA/EASA regulations, SMS and IOSA requirements.
- Knowledge of ICAO standards and European safety management regulations.
- Training in accident and incident investigations, root cause analysis, and auditing techniques.
- Received technical training on at least two aircraft types operated by Qatar Airways.
