Job description
Position Overview
The Maintenance Worker is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing various building structures and systems at the facility. This includes plumbing, electrical wiring and fixtures, machinery, equipment, electronics, vehicles, and the grounds.
Key Duties
- Maintain and repair the physical structure of the facility to ensure safe and secure operations.
- Inspect, diagnose, and fix faults in machinery and equipment.
- Install and repair electrical apparatus such as wiring or electronic components related to machinery and equipment.
- Carry out preventative maintenance on equipment in line with the preventative maintenance schedule.
- Supervise and monitor inmates or residents assigned to the Maintenance Department properly.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Possess a High School diploma, GED certificate, or an equivalent qualification.
- Have at least two years of experience in general maintenance or construction.
- Completion of technical or trade school courses related to maintenance or construction may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
- Preferred knowledge includes building construction and the functioning of building systems.
- Hold a valid driver's license.
- Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
