Hellers Ltd is a prominent New Zealand manufacturer and distributor specializing in Bacon, Ham, and Smallgoods, known for their award-winning and widely recognized quality products. The company operates a factory, product development, warehousing and logistics facilities, and a head office in Kaiapoi, Canterbury.
Role Overview
We seek an experienced Maintenance Engineer to join our Kaiapoi site, supporting plant operations by troubleshooting process line faults, performing breakdown repairs, and executing preventative maintenance activities. The role involves assisting with other engineering duties, including equipment project work, to ensure continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide urgent troubleshooting and resolution for process line breakdowns and operational issues.
- Carry out equipment repairs and maintenance within designated timeframes.
- Complete assigned tasks adhering to quality standards and performance requirements.
- Execute engineering projects that enhance plant capability and meet business objectives.
- Maintain adherence to site Health & Safety and environmental standards.
- Demonstrate consistent safety-focused behavior as part of the engineering team.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Mechanical Maintenance Trade Qualification.
- Experience working in a Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) production environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
- A proactive approach to safety, with the capability to identify and mitigate engineering and plant operation hazards.
Working Conditions
- Night shift from 7:30 PM to 5:30 AM with a fixed roster of 7 days on and 7 days off, equating to approximately 30 hours weekly.
- Position based in Kaiapoi, approximately 15 minutes from central Christchurch.
- Availability for some work outside standard hours as required.
- Free secure on-site parking available.
