Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the company’s lifting standards, procedures, and operational protocols for all lifting activities.
- Implement best practices in lifting, rigging, and crane operations.
- Have comprehensive knowledge of tower crane types, including safe specifications, procurement, erection, usage, and dismantling of tower cranes and crawler cranes.
- Lead a small team of local Authorized Persons (APs) to ensure the highest quality in lift planning, monitoring, and feedback.
- Evaluate lifting operations to plan accordingly, select appropriate cranes, lifting gear, and equipment, and provide guidance and supervision to ensure safe execution.
- Verify accurate determination of weights, radii, heights, and other critical measurements.
- Ensure the ground conditions can safely accommodate imposed loads.
- Confirm suitable site access for erection and dismantling of cranes.
- Guarantee that equipment undergoes adequate inspection and maintenance.
- Establish effective procedures for defect and incident reporting, with necessary corrective measures.
- Identify hazards such as services above or below ground and implement appropriate safety precautions.
- Manage and supervise all lifting operations onsite.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations throughout the lifting activities.
- Coordinate and oversee site activities to maintain operational efficiency.
- Engage and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Track project progress and provide updates to senior management.
- Secure third-party approvals where necessary and reflect these in documentation and team briefings.
- Confirm presence of Emergency Rescue Plans and Permits to Work relevant to crane operations.
- Convey detailed Task Briefings to the entire lift team.
- Direct the lifting operation, ensuring adherence to Method Statements or Lift Plans and Risk Assessments, delivering clear instructions to all team members.
- Verify geometry compliance for lifts according to Method Statements or Lift Plans.
- Understand the responsibilities of all personnel engaged in the lifting activity.
- Audit qualifications of all involved personnel before lift commencement.
- Deliver training sessions promoting lifting discipline within the company.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in construction with the ability to plan and coordinate rigging operations and articulate the processes involved.
- Proficiency with Microsoft 365 suite.
- Authorized Person (AP) training is mandatory along with capability in drafting and interpreting lift plans.
- Relevant experience in construction sectors including data centers, semiconductor facilities, and pharmaceutical requirements.
- Thorough understanding of British Standard BS7121 and Irish Standard IS361.
- Ability to read and interpret CAD drawings.
- Awareness of Tower Crane (TW) operations.
- Competency in using Autodesk BIM360 software.
- Willingness to travel frequently within Europe, with unrestricted movement rights across the EU.
