Job description
Role Overview
Join Irving Oil at the Saint John Refinery as a Kitchen Steward on a fixed-term contract ending November 13, 2026. Your primary duty will be to maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization within the Café's kitchen, storage, and service areas, playing a key role in supporting smooth food service operations. You will help foster a positive, branded employee atmosphere through meticulous sanitation, inventory upkeep, and equipment care.
Work Schedule
This role operates Monday through Friday between 6:00 AM and 3:30 PM.
Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain cleaning equipment including dishwashers, hand-wash, and pot-scrubbing stations.
- Sanitize kitchen workspaces, storage, utensils, knives, shelves, and other equipment thoroughly.
- Manage clean wares by sorting, stacking, and storing carefully; return items needing re-cleaning to proper stations.
- Maintain cleanliness of trash containers and dispose of waste appropriately.
- Sweep, mop, and tidy all kitchen and serving areas diligently.
- Break down cardboard for recycling and transport garbage to the utility room.
- Complete and maintain daily operational logs.
- Notify management of any maintenance or repair needs promptly.
- Foster positive relationships and support team goals in a collaborative environment.
- Adhere strictly to quality standards and operational protocols.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ability to thrive under pressure and handle a fast-paced environment effectively.
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
- Excellent communication skills paired with a friendly, energetic, and team-focused attitude.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous food service experience preferred, ideally between 3 to 5 years.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual salary ranges from $37,440 to $44,928, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
