Role Overview

Mitre 10 Mega Cambridge seeks a full-time Kitchen Designer and Sales Supervisor working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This role inspires customers by blending stylish, functional, and budget-conscious interior solutions, guiding them throughout the project from initial concept right through to final delivery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Lead and support a small team to complete daily tasks, maintain excellent customer service, and ensure safe and organized operations within the kitchen design area.
  • Coordinate projects by liaising with builders, suppliers, and subcontractors effectively.
  • Communicate smoothly with team members, customers, architects, and designers to manage expectations and requirements.
  • Delegate and prioritize daily tasks adjusting staffing to meet customer and trade flow efficiently.
  • Coach and develop team members on customer service, product knowledge, and workplace safety, providing prompt feedback and recognition.
  • Oversee team performance in sales, services, and kitchen designs with focus on meeting targets.
  • Monitor and review team workflow and output daily and weekly to ensure deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Conduct peer reviews to ensure accuracy and adherence to customer specifications.
  • Enhance team skills related to producing precise kitchen design plans and specifications.
  • Enforce store policies, procedures, and safety standards within the team’s operational area, addressing issues proactively and escalating risks when necessary.
  • Facilitate onboarding and training for new staff members.
  • Manage customer escalations within authority limits and escalate complex issues properly.
  • Understand and assess customer requirements and space constraints, proposing functional and aesthetic layout solutions.
  • Organize site measurements and comply with customer and site-specific safety regulations, including inductions and PPE requirements during home and site visits.
  • Order specialized products, track supplier progress, keep customers updated, and handle adjustments as required.
  • Coordinate with installers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure smooth project delivery and problem resolution.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of product ranges, finishes, building standards, and design trends.

Technical Expertise Required

  • Proficiency with retail store systems such as POS, inventory management, labeling, task organization, and staff rostering.
  • Over 10 years’ professional experience utilizing 3D and CAD software for kitchen design.
  • Basic competency in interpreting reports, KPIs, and checklists.
  • Accuracy in numerical tasks and maintaining thorough records.
  • Familiarity with incident and hazard reporting protocols.
  • Competence or willingness to learn planning and design software and tools.
  • Comprehensive product knowledge including fixtures, fittings, waterproofing, and ventilation elements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, plans, and measurements to facilitate quoting and ordering workflows.
  • Awareness of New Zealand consumer law relevant to sales dealings.
