Job Purpose
The Janitor position involves executing diverse cleaning and sanitizing assignments to uphold exceptional cleanliness and hygiene within a warehouse or facility setting. This position requires knowledge and practical experience in sanitation processes and equipment use. Additionally, the candidate may be tasked with warehouse duties depending on operational demands.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out advanced cleaning and sanitizing functions, including deep cleans of production zones, specialized equipment sanitation, and precise use of sanitizing chemicals.
- Manage inventory of cleaning and sanitation supplies, maintaining sufficient stock and proper storage conditions.
- Operate a broad spectrum of cleaning machinery, such as floor scrubbers and steam cleaners, while ensuring their upkeep.
- Perform routine inspections of designated areas to verify compliance with sanitation protocols and identify areas requiring attention.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on correct cleaning methods, equipment handling, and safety practices.
- Support the creation and enforcement of sanitation routines and guidelines.
- Address minor equipment issues and execute basic maintenance tasks.
- Follow all relevant safety standards, internal policies, and hygiene regulations including HACCP and GMP.
- Promptly communicate any maintenance, safety, or sanitation issues to supervisors.
- Dispose of waste and recyclables properly, adhering to environmental standards.
- Assist in packing tasks related to produce splits when required.
- Handle stock with care to prevent damage.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment consistently.
- Deliver outstanding internal and external customer service.
- Manage unloading and hauling of inbound freight from docks.
Qualifications and Experience
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Experience: Between 0 to 2 years preferred, with general warehouse experience considered a plus.
- Physical capacity to meet demands, with reasonable accommodations available if necessary.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
Skills Required
- Skilled in operating various cleaning devices including high-pressure washers and floor scrubbers.
- Capability to instruct and support team members effectively.
- Strong familiarity with safety and sanitation standards such as OSHA, HACCP, and GMP.
- Excellent attention to detail ensuring consistent cleanliness and hygiene quality.
- Ability to identify and resolve minor equipment faults.
- Communicates well and works cooperatively within a team or independently.
