Job Location and Grade

Position Responsibilities

The role involves designing, developing, testing, and deploying new computer applications, as well as maintaining existing critical systems related to Corrections, Law Enforcement, Identification, and Parole and Probation. The systems support data management and dissemination to DPSCS, criminal justice agencies, and the public.

Qualifications and Experience

A minimum of seven years' experience is required in designing, developing, testing, implementing, and maintaining software across applications, communications, databases, or operating systems.

There are various experience and education substitutions allowed: for example, a combination of a high school diploma (or equivalent) with college coursework in computer science or related fields can reduce required experience; similarly, military service in IT roles may substitute for some experience; and bachelor's degrees in relevant fields can reduce the experience requirement.

Selection and Examination Process

Candidates must thoroughly demonstrate meeting qualification criteria. Applications will be evaluated and ranked (Best Qualified, Better Qualified, Qualified). Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for at least one year. Assessment may include ratings of education, training, and relevant experience.
