Role Overview
This role is focused on the development and execution of robust safety programs specifically tailored for activities involving work at height (W@H). The incumbent will ensure compliance with all relevant safety standards and regulations, conduct risk assessments and hazard analyses, and lead training initiatives to promote safe practices in port operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety protocols for work at height activities, aligning with industry and Adani Group standards.
- Regularly perform risk assessments and hazard analyses related to tasks performed at elevation.
- Identify hazards inherent in ongoing port operations and formulate mitigation strategies.
- Design and conduct training programs ensuring all employees understand proper use of safety gear and emergency procedures.
- Support various departments by identifying their W@H activities and advising on risk control implementations.
- Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning work at height, updating protocols as legislation evolves.
- Investigate incidents or near misses involving work at height, compile detailed reports, and propose corrective measures.
- Supervise inspection, maintenance, and certification of safety equipment used for elevated tasks, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, and stakeholders to foster a culture of safety and act as the primary contact for safety-related queries.
- Conduct periodic site inspections and audits to verify compliance and evaluate effectiveness of safety measures.
- Develop emergency response plans, facilitate training on these procedures, and organize regular drills for preparedness.
Eligibility and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or Engineering.
- At least 5 years of professional experience in safety management focusing on work at height.
- Certified work at height trainer credentials.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards pertaining to work at height.
- Proven experience in risk assessment and hazard analysis.
