Role Summary
We are seeking a Director of Operations / Hotel Operations Manager (m/w/d) who leads actively on-site, directly engaging with hotel operations. The successful candidate will monitor workflows, identify improvement opportunities, challenge existing practices, and collaborate with department leaders to develop solutions that enhance work efficiency, economic performance, and overall success. This position focuses on continuous process improvements rather than mere management.
Key Responsibilities
- Be actively present in daily operations across departments to analyze workflows and gain deep insights into departmental challenges and opportunities.
- Identify redundancies, unnecessary tasks, inefficient resource usage, and design sustainable solutions to measurably enhance hotel operations.
- Refine existing processes aiming to improve quality, simplify work routines, and boost the company’s economic viability.
- Collaborate with department heads to manage personnel deployment aligned with workload, productivity, and business needs.
- Evaluate rosters, staff structures, and capacities to achieve an optimal balance between guest experience, staff satisfaction, and financial efficiency.
- Implement new standards, processes, and workflows, ensuring thorough adoption and integration into daily operations.
- Regularly review operational KPIs to develop targeted measures that increase productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Facilitate change management directly on the floor, supporting leadership in successfully establishing new team structures.
- Work closely with executive management, serving as a pivotal link between strategic business objectives and operational execution.
Qualification Requirements
- Several years of experience in an operational leadership role, preferably within upscale hospitality or a comparable service-oriented industry, with a robust understanding of complex operational processes.
- Strong expertise in process management, workforce planning, and business economics, enabling daily decisions that impact quality, efficiency, and profitability.
- Adept at quickly spotting areas for improvement and implementing practical, solution-focused changes as continuous enhancement is central to this role.
- High numeracy skills and experience handling KPIs related to personnel costs, productivity, and capacity utilization for data-driven decision-making.
- A leadership style focused on close engagement with teams and on-site presence, believing that enduring progress happens where processes are actively practiced.
- Demonstrate assertiveness, reliability, and clear communication skills to effectively initiate and sustain change.
