Role Overview

This is an exceptional chance to spearhead the procurement transformation for a national construction products organization based in Western Sydney. Reporting directly to the CFO, the role holds significant autonomy to redefine procurement strategy, influence key executive choices, enhance supplier relationships, and drive valuable commercial results throughout the enterprise. As the leader of Procurement and Inventory functions, you will head a small team and collaborate closely with sales, operations, finance, and branch managers nationally. Your core responsibilities include designing and implementing procurement strategies, strengthening supplier alliances, enhancing inventory management, and instituting commercial discipline across the business.

Responsibilities

• Create and implement procurement strategies that reposition procurement as a vital commercial function within the company.
• Lead supplier negotiations, strategic sourcing, and commercial contract management to optimize margins, secure rebates, and ensure sustained value.
• Forge trusted partnerships with branch managers, executives, and suppliers to enhance joint commercial outcomes.
• Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing procurement and inventory team, fostering accountability and continual advancement.
• Enhance procurement governance, forecasting accuracy, reporting mechanisms, and inventory performance through robust commercial processes.
• Identify and execute projects that boost operational efficiency, supplier reliability, and overall profitability.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a commercially savvy procurement professional with a verified history of elevating business results via strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and procurement transformations. Prior experience within construction, building products, industrial distribution, manufacturing, or similar sectors is preferred, especially with managing complex supplier ecosystems and commercial procurement strategies. A deep understanding of procurement’s influence on profitability, beyond transactional purchasing, is essential alongside skills in fostering supplier partnerships, enhancing forecasting methods, and embedding commercial rigor.
