About the Role
Amazon Robotics is a forward-thinking team dedicated to pioneering solutions in robotics and software to revolutionize customer experiences. As part of this innovative group, you will engage in collaborative problem-solving that merges technical expertise with customer interactions, particularly supporting advanced Packaging and Robotic systems across Fulfillment Centers.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-person assistance for new product launches, updates, routine hardware inspections, and troubleshooting of complex robotics systems.
- Collaborate with product development, manufacturing, and on-site reliability, maintenance, and engineering teams to optimize robotic system performance.
- Serve as the first point of contact for resolving technical inquiries and escalations from RME teams.
- Diagnose and fix mechanical and system-related issues within Packaging and Robotics solutions.
- Design and develop electro-mechanical tools and fixtures to aid current and future product deployments.
- Create and implement monitoring tools focused on safety, system reliability, and operational efficiency of robotics systems.
- Build diagnostic instruments aimed at reducing troubleshooting time and minimizing machine downtime.
- Establish preventive maintenance protocols and develop relevant training materials for sophisticated robotic equipment.
- Conduct on-site training for reliability, maintenance, and engineering teams supporting Amazon operations.
- Manage spare parts systems and processes effectively.
- Perform safety, ergonomic, and risk evaluations for Amazon Robotics products, tools, and maintenance procedures.
- Generate routine reports detailing safety, reliability, and operational metrics of the Amazon Robotics product lineup.
- Provide feedback representing customer perspectives to development and support teams.
- Be prepared to travel up to 50% of the time to various locations.
A Day in the Life
Field Hardware Support Engineers actively ensure smooth operation of Packaging and Robotics systems by conducting hands-on testing, troubleshooting, and identifying root causes of issues. They recognize maintenance challenges, communicate potential risks, and initiate strategies to mitigate them. Working closely with various teams, they facilitate engineering enhancements that bolster system dependability and foster innovation daily.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Understanding of networking fundamentals.
- Experience working within a continuous 24/7 production environment.
- Proficiency in Linux systems administration and/or software development.
- Experience with at least two programming or scripting languages such as Python, Java, Perl, PHP, Ruby, or Bash/Shell.
Preferred Skills
- Familiarity with configuration management tools like Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Background in site reliability engineering, systems engineering, systems administration, DevOps, security, or network administration.
- Expertise in network troubleshooting and packet capture techniques.
- Experience creating scripts, tooling, and automation for managing large-scale systems.
