Groundsperson

Position Overview

Green by Nature is seeking a dedicated Groundsperson to join our team on a full-time and permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining the landscaped grounds of a prestigious school in Toowoomba, ensuring year-round upkeep through a variety of turf and garden care activities. This role presents an excellent avenue for individuals who take pride in outdoor work and aspire to grow within the horticulture and grounds maintenance industry.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform diverse horticultural and turf maintenance tasks such as mowing, edging, pruning, hedging, planting, mulching, and weeding.
• Maintain lawns, garden beds, and landscaped areas to a high standard throughout the school campus.
• Operate hand-held and petrol-powered garden tools including hedge trimmers, blowers, whipper snippers, push mowers, and ride-on mowers safely and efficiently.
• Handle loading and unloading of plants, gardening materials, and equipment as needed.
• Ensure a tidy, organised, and safe working environment, including proper maintenance of tools and machinery.
• Adhere strictly to all safety protocols and actively support a positive safety culture within the team.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• Positive demeanor with a robust work ethic and a commitment to delivering quality landscaping work.
• Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, turf management, or a related field is favoured but not mandatory; eagerness to learn is valued.
• Physical capability to undertake demanding tasks such as lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, squatting, and standing outdoors under varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to work as part of a team and follow detailed instructions.
• Commitment to maintaining safety standards and high-quality output.
• Possession of a valid driver's licence is required.
• Must hold or be prepared to obtain a White Card and Working with Children Check.
