Ground Operations Supervisor

Role Overview

This position involves overseeing Operations Service shifts to guarantee that inbound and outbound materials are handled, collected, and processed according to DHL's network benchmarks and standard operating procedures. The role demands strict adherence to GIMS and Global SOP protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage road transport operations between stations and gateways in both directions.
• Ensure strict compliance with scheduled operations according to network and station demands with ongoing monitoring.
• Update NMIV systems within 15 minutes upon vehicle arrival or departure.
• Formulate contingency plans for current and future routes to maintain minimum service levels during emergencies.
• Identify, communicate, assess, prioritize, and act on key operational risks consistently.
• Continuously inform management and security about any identified risks.
• Maintain transparent and ongoing communication with key stakeholders regarding risk management.
• Provide effective leadership and motivation through performance appraisals, one-on-one meetings, and coaching sessions.
• Oversee inbound and outbound sorting and bagging processes, ensuring safety, timeliness, accuracy, and compliance with civil aviation, safety, airport, and DHL security standards.
• Ensure that no prohibited or restricted items are transported without prior approval and authorization.
• Verify that all courier collections are completed accurately using the appropriate Debrief program upon their return.
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of handling unit IDs and checkpoint data for network visibility.
• Guarantee all inbound shipments are scanned and processed properly and promptly according to checkpoint guidelines.

Required Experience and Qualifications

• Demonstrated success in risk management.
• Proven ability to enhance performance employing performance management frameworks.
• Experience in team leadership and serving internal and external customers effectively.
• Strong written and oral communication capabilities.
• Operational knowledge of the Operations Scorecard and adherence to Global SOP.
• Familiarity with OHASA and Global SOP standards.
• Valid Class C driver's license with at least two years of driving experience.
• Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant discipline.
• Good understanding of DHL operations systems.
• Between 2 to 3 years of experience in a similar operational supervisory role.
