Role Overview

The General Manager will supervise and lead the sales team within the designated region to ensure outstanding sales and operational outcomes. The role involves creating and implementing strategic action plans and work protocols, driving teams towards meeting targets by maximizing sales, boosting profitability, and increasing brand visibility while ensuring adherence to company policies and productivity standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Convert strategic goals into executable business plans aimed at achieving targeted growth in both sales and profit margins; identify and capitalize on expansion possibilities, new business ventures, and promotional opportunities; analyze historical sales data, market dynamics, and client requirements to inform business planning.
  • Direct Sales Managers and the sales team in discovering new sales prospects, markets, and agents according to market needs; transform feedback from sales teams into recommendations and proposals supported by cost-benefit analyses.
  • Set and monitor sales targets, objectives, and performance metrics for business development and sales staff in the allocated territory; support sales managers in realistic budget contribution and monitor financial performance, diagnose deficiencies, and implement corrective measures as needed.
  • Collaborate with the marketing division to plan and implement marketing campaigns locally, including events, sponsorships, conferences, and exhibitions while maintaining conformity to brand guidelines to expand market share and increase sales.
  • Forge and sustain strong relationships with external stakeholders such as government bodies, aviation authorities, tourism organizations, agents, and trade companies to enhance business and sales growth; maintain connections with key customers and stakeholders.
  • Evaluate sales teams’ performance and progress, establish objectives and targets, dedicate time to coaching managers, identify skill gaps and development opportunities, and provide guidance on departmental concerns.
  • Coordinate with internal support functions and divisions in the territory to manage resources, systems, and tools; make decisions related to daily sales operations to ensure quality service, resource planning, compliance, branding, and corporate image consistency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Commerce, or equivalent; a Master’s degree is advantageous.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and skilled in internet research and PowerPoint presentation development.
  • Fluency in English is required; Arabic language skills are an additional benefit.
  • A minimum of 15 years of substantial experience in Sales and Management with at least 5 years dedicated to the Travel & Tourism sector; experience in a similar role and geographical familiarity is considered an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of product offerings, market trends, and customer needs within the industry.
  • Experience in building and sustaining business relations, as well as drafting and negotiating service level agreements and contracts.
  • Expertise in forecasting, budgeting, and assessing the performance of business initiatives.
  • Proven record of consistently increasing sales growth and profitability under challenging market conditions.
  • Established professional relationships and reputation within Travel & Tourism markets to facilitate credibility.
  • Experienced in managing senior-level relationships and diverse teams.
