General Manager

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and responsible General Manager (m/w/d) for our Asian restaurant XIAO based in Marl, Germany. As a General Manager, you will independently oversee the daily operations of the XIAO restaurant, acting like an entrepreneur who supports the management by ensuring smooth procedures and an exceptional guest experience. You will lead and coach your team to consistently achieve improved results while making decisions grounded in a strategic long-term outlook. Above all, you must be passionate about the XIAO brand and motivated to inspire the same enthusiasm in others.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and lead a XIAO restaurant generating a net annual revenue of 4-5 million euros, with around 150,000 guests per year and approximately 60 employees.
• Take full operational responsibility for the restaurant.
• Recruit new staff members and build a pool of future talent.
• Develop training programs and train new and existing staff.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies, safety regulations, and quality standards within the restaurant.
• Efficiently manage inventory and optimize workforce deployment.
• Plan personnel scheduling effectively.
• Maintain profitability and functionality of the restaurant by setting clear goals and KPIs, and initiating corrective actions as needed.
• Provide professional guest management.
• Ensure smooth communication flow between the restaurant and corporate management.
• Coordinate with internal departments such as HR, marketing, purchasing, and controlling.
• Engage effectively with external partners and customers.

Requirements

• Experience working in system catering in a similar management role with several years as an operations manager.
• Background in buffet-style restaurant concepts.
• Good command of English.
• Strong operational skills combining hospitality and entrepreneurial leadership with the ability to inspire, coach, and motivate teams to excel.
• Solid knowledge of business administration.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with analytical and strategic thinking ability.
• Outstanding organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize effectively.
• High resilience and strong motivation to perform.
• Self-initiative and accountability, with the capability to adopt a long-term vision.
