Overview
This position reports to senior financial and regional management including the Financial Control Manager, Country CFO, General Manager, and the Financial Control Department of the Regional Office. The main role is to oversee and manage accounting, tax, and banking operations for a shipping agency, domestic service unit, and carrier representation. The Associate supports local teams and management in resolving financial challenges, leads group-wide financial projects, and delivers precise financial insights to Management as well as Regional and Head Offices.
Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate holds a degree in Finance, Accounting, or Taxation, complemented by an MBA or CPA certification. They must bring at least 10 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in the shipping or logistics sectors. Competencies include prior auditing or consultancy background, fluency in English with proficient communication, and advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and project management. Familiarity with Oracle and SAP accounting software is advantageous.

Core Responsibilities
- Manage general ledger accounting, taxation, and carrier liaison functions while coordinating with local, regional, and global finance teams.
- Oversee monthly accounting closures including bank reconciliations, managing payables and receivables, and ensuring accurate accrual accounting.
- Prepare financial statements compliant with applicable local GAAP, IFRS, and international standards.
- Monitor financial performance indicators and lead annual budget planning exercises.
- Supervise treasury, analyze cash flow, and engage with banking partners on foreign currency remittances and exposure.
- Head tax risk assessment, compliance, filing, audits, and advisory services to minimize tax risks and implement strategic savings.
- Lead major projects such as implementing SAP direct posting and branch deregistration, promoting best practices for revenue enhancement and cost optimization consistent with corporate strategies.
- Mentor and develop finance team members to drive high performance standards.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial regulations, tax legislation, and corporate policies; manage audit relationships effectively.
- Produce consolidated financial reporting, along with variance analysis, challenging stakeholders to improve operational expenditures and revenues.
