Job description
Job Overview
The Floor Technician will be tasked with executing floor care duties aligned with established standards and procedures. This includes waxing, stripping, buffing floors, and other environmental maintenance functions in compliance with safety and contractual guidelines.
Responsibilities
- Adhere to all safety protocols, actively preventing risky behaviors by self and others
- Collaborate effectively with team members to fulfill assignments
- Perform repetitive manual tasks proficiently
- Maintain cleanliness in assigned work areas
- Follow company rules, policies, and guidelines strictly
- Accept supervision and direction respectfully
- Communicate professionally with supervisors, co-workers, and clients
- Provide coverage during staff shortages in related areas like custodial or maintenance
- Assist shift lead in completing required task lists
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment for assigned tasks
- Maintain a professional appearance and behavior at all times
- Understand principles of customer service and satisfaction
- Comprehend necessary reporting systems and environmental standards
- Operate motorized cleaning machinery safely and effectively
- Ensure daily maintenance and cleaning of assigned areas, including tile, carpet, and brick floors
- Complete tasks within allocated time frames
- Utilize chemicals and supplies according to operational procedures
- Maintain and correctly operate all equipment involved in floor care
- Use safety precautions such as placing wet floor signs during cleaning
- Capable of working independently without constant supervision
- Report any safety hazards promptly
Qualifications
- No formal education requirement; preference for 6 months to 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent combination
- May require valid driver's license and completion of all safety/task-related certifications
- Forklift certification may be necessary
- Ability to interpret instructions, manuals, and procedures accurately
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, methods, and chemicals, with willingness to share expertise with team
Physical and Work Environment Requirements
- Physical ability to perform essential job functions, including lifting/moving items weighing up to 35 pounds
- Work environment typical of assigned duties, with accommodations as needed for disabilities
Schedule and Compensation
The position involves working Monday to Friday, from 4:00 PM to 12:30 AM.
Hourly pay range is $16.00 to $17.00.
