About Youth Opportunity & Elizabethton Youth Academy
Youth Opportunity is a nationally recognized leader dedicated to providing residential and behavioral health treatment for at-risk youth. The Elizabethton Youth Academy, located in Elizabethton, Tennessee, is a 16-bed residential center for girls aged 12 to 17 focused on mental health treatment, education, and creative therapies such as art, music, and recreation. The program adopts a trauma-informed approach to deliver individualized care for long-term success in life, education, and emotional health.
Position Summary
The Facility Maintenance Worker will support daily operational needs at Elizabethton Youth Academy. This role is aimed at candidates with solid experience in building and grounds upkeep who wish to contribute meaningfully in a residential treatment setting. Responsibilities focus on ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient facility to promote a supportive environment for both youth and staff.
Responsibilities
- Oversee building services including maintenance, landscaping, parking, and safety.
- Perform regular inspections and implement preventative measures to maintain safety and facility appearance.
- Manage safety protocols such as fire and burglary prevention as well as facility closures.
- Monitor security systems including CCTV and access card operations.
- Collaborate with program managers to identify and coordinate maintenance and repairs.
- Manage fire and health inspection records and ensure correction of any issues.
- Supervise contractors related to maintenance, equipment upkeep, and grounds work.
- Serve as a positive role model and uphold behavioral standards for youth.
- Participate in ongoing training programs.
- Report incidents, inappropriate behavior, and any use of physical force following guidelines.
- Execute additional assigned tasks as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent educational qualification.
- Successful completion of background check and drug screening.
- Strong organizational and communication capabilities.
- Ability to promote a cooperative and team-oriented work atmosphere.
- Physical ability to frequently lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
- Required vision abilities including close, distance, color, and peripheral vision.
- Capability to drive for extended periods and possession of valid state driver’s license.
- Compliance with company auto insurance and state criminal background requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of three years’ experience in facility maintenance or comparable roles.
- Experience in project management is strongly preferred.
