Role Overview
The Director - Roads will spearhead the Roads Transport activities in Ireland, ensuring sustained growth, profitability, and high standards in project delivery. This senior leadership position involves overseeing road and highway projects, leading a talented team, managing client relationships, and contributing to business development.
Key Duties
- Lead and develop the Roads Transport segment in Ireland, driving business growth and profitability.
- Oversee all stages of road and highway projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and contract-adherent execution.
- Build, mentor, and support a skilled project team to achieve excellence.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of applicable standards, regulations, and best practices to guide project planning and delivery.
- Establish and nurture strong client relationships to provide customized consultancy services.
- Implement rigorous quality assurance measures to meet and exceed client expectations.
- Manage financial aspects including budgets, forecasts, and allocation of resources for optimal profitability.
- Engage with stakeholders such as governmental bodies, industry partners, and regulators to secure approvals and ensure compliance.
- Deliver regular progress and achievement reports to senior management and clients.
- Identify growth opportunities, craft business strategies, and actively engage in proposal and bidding processes to win new transport projects.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, or a related discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng) accredited by Engineers Ireland or an equivalent professional organization.
- At least 15 years’ experience in civil engineering focused on roads or transport infrastructure.
- Proven ability to successfully deliver infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrated success in business development, securing, and growing design and engineering assignments.
- Strong leadership and capability in managing high-performing teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Financial expertise in managing project budgets effectively.
