Diagnostic Imaging Assistant

Position Summary

Under supervision, the Diagnostic Imaging Assistant at Selkirk & District General Hospital supports diagnostic imaging operations through diverse tasks such as transporting patients, assisting with lifts and transfers, performing clerical work, managing inventory, and handling linens. The role demands adherence to a safe and professional environment, compliance with quality assurance, and alignment with Shared Health's mission, values, and applicable standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient transport and assist with patient lifts and transfers to and from wheelchairs, stretchers, imaging tables, and beds while following safe transfer protocols.
• Perform clerical duties related to the Diagnostic Imaging department.
• Manage supply inventory and handle clean and soiled linen services.
• Maintain a safe working environment, comply with professional and provincial guidelines, and uphold quality assurance and accreditation standards.

Requirements and Qualifications

• Possess a Health Care Aide certificate from an accredited institution.
• Hold and maintain a current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
• Have 1-2 years of recent relevant experience, preferably within a diagnostic imaging setting.
• Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively and courteously with patients and healthcare teams.
• Exhibit flexibility and independence in managing work priorities and daily tasks.
• Effective written and oral communication skills.
• Physical capacity for prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, and safe patient transfers.
• Available to work various shifts including days, evenings, and weekends, with potential for flexible hours or overtime as service needs dictate.

Additional Information

• Position type: Indefinite term with possible expiration given one week's notice.
• FTE: 0.70, Annual hours: 2015, Daily hours: 7.75.
• Anticipated start: ASAP.
• Requires completion of satisfactory Criminal Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child Abuse Registry and Adult Abuse Registry Checks; costs incurred are the candidate's responsibility.
