Deck Officer

Role Summary

Stena Line is seeking a dedicated Deck Officer to join our team operating the Cairnryan - Belfast route. As a valued officer, you will be responsible for a diverse set of duties under the guidance of the Master and Chief Mate, contributing to the safe management and operation of the vessel.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage your assigned duties as delegated by the Chief Mate or Master.
• Participate actively in the vessel's emergency response organization.
• Conduct onboard maintenance as outlined in the vessel’s planned maintenance program.
• Maintain thorough knowledge of the ship’s operational and navigation procedures.
• Assess and mitigate risks concerning the ship, personnel, and environment, implementing necessary safety measures.
• Report any incidents, hazards, or equipment deficiencies, especially regarding safety gear, to the Chief Officer.
• Familiarize and comply with the Safety Management System as detailed in the Document of Compliance and Management Plan (DOCMAP).
• Engage proactively with responsibilities beyond your rank, demonstrating readiness to take on advanced duties and lead hands-on actions.
• Serve as a Bridge Navigating Officer.
• Oversee the safe loading and unloading of the vessel.

Qualifications

• Valid STCW training certificates and ENG1 medical certificate.
• Officer of the Watch Unlimited Certificate of Competency (CoC).
• Right to work in the United Kingdom.

Preferred qualifications and experience include:

• Passenger Safety Training.
• Crowd Management Training.
• Experience working on passenger vessels is preferred.
