Role Overview
The Data Strategy Consultant plays a vital senior advisory role within Fusion's Data Office, especially serving clients in pharma, biotech, and medtech. This position involves guiding how clients conceive and implement data, AI, and technology strategies to convert isolated efforts into sustainable competitive advantages. The role uniquely blends strategy development and practical engagement, from initial workshops through to delivering actionable leadership recommendations while maintaining close alignment with technical teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and articulate data, AI, and technology strategies closely aligned with client business goals.
- Conduct and lead client workshops, steering committees, and executive discussions, from planning to follow up.
- Create and deliver compelling business cases for data and AI investments demonstrating tangible value.
- Design and advise on sustainable governance frameworks for data and AI.
- Support clients in technology and platform selections without direct technical implementation responsibility.
- Translate complex technical content into clear insights for leadership via effective visual communication.
- Manage relationships with senior stakeholders, harmonizing varying priorities across departments.
- Mentor client teams and Fusion colleagues in structured problem-solving and strategic communication.
Candidate Profile
- Exceptional at structuring ambiguous challenges into clear perspectives swiftly under pressure.
- Skilled in guiding senior stakeholders towards decisions and managing dynamic workshops.
- Able to architect robust business cases that withstand scrutiny from both finance and technology leaders.
- Experienced in crafting polished, executive-level presentations that independently convey arguments.
- Comfortable engaging with data architects and AI engineers to provide credible oversight without direct coding.
- Balancing client relationship management with the ability to provide constructive challenges.
Qualifications
- A Master's degree in Business, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline; an MBA is considered beneficial.
- 6 to 10+ years of professional experience including a minimum of 3 years at a leading management consulting firm or strategy division of the Big Four.
- A proven history of leading client workshops and delivering high-quality, independent outputs.
- Deep expertise in data strategy, AI strategy, or technology strategy, with preferred knowledge of governance models.
- Experience within life sciences or other regulated industries is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in both German and English at a native or fluent level.
