The client is an established company in financial technology specializing in consumer tax preparation products used by millions annually. They emphasize data-driven decision making, interdepartmental collaboration, and ongoing product enhancement to ensure an exceptional customer experience.

Role Overview

The Data Scientist will focus on supporting a referral program within a consumer tax preparation product for the fiscal year 2027. This involves collaboration with Product Management, Marketing, and Design teams to define, analyze, and enhance metrics throughout the customer referral process.

Primary Responsibilities

• Automate in-season KPI reporting to lessen manual reporting tasks.
• Collaborate with marketing and product teams to plan and analyze A/B tests from design through statistical analysis.
• Perform varied analyses including ad hoc and causal to support product decisions and business strategies.
• Create reporting tools by defining product metrics, developing data pipelines, and constructing dashboards.
• Identify reliable backend metrics to complement or replace front-end clickstream data.
• Enhance reporting systems and dashboards alongside stakeholders.
• Develop self-service experimentation tools aligned with existing testing frameworks.
• Contribute to wider product development and learning initiatives.

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency in SQL and analytical methods.
• Experience designing and interpreting A/B experiments.
• Understanding of causal inference techniques.
• Skills in time series forecasting.
• Background in the financial technology industry.
• Interest or experience with AI-driven workflows and modern AI tools.
• Capability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally to promote data-backed decisions.
• Experience establishing business and product funnel metrics and experimentation frameworks.
• Strong problem-solving with the aptitude to transform data insights into clear business recommendations.
• Ability to create scalable reporting systems, dashboards, and automated analyses.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior exposure to consumer product analytics within FinTech or growth/product teams.
• Experience building analytics frameworks that influenced strategic product choices.
• Enthusiasm for utilizing AI-enhanced analytics tools and workflows.

Education

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in quantitative disciplines such as Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or Business Analytics.

Compensation and Contract Details

The position is a contract role offering up to $80 per hour, paid via W2 classification.
