Description de l'emploi

About the organisation

Bowel Cancer UK is the UK’s leading charity focused on bowel cancer. Its work centres on saving lives and improving the day-to-day experience of people affected by the disease. The charity supports and funds targeted research, shares specialist information and practical support for patients and their families, educates the public and professionals about bowel cancer, and campaigns for earlier diagnosis and better access to the most effective treatment and care.

The organisation has staff based across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland. With the support of its community, it is able to pursue an ambitious new strategy and respond to the significant challenges facing bowel cancer patients across the UK. The charity is building a strong, united team with the aim of creating a future where nobody dies of bowel cancer.

Role overview

The Creative Design Officer is a varied, hands-on role that will help bring the charity’s mission to life through engaging visual storytelling and well-crafted content design. Based in the Marketing and Communications department, the role works across teams to create creative materials that strengthen engagement, encourage action and extend the charity’s reach.

The role is mainly design-led: taking copy created by others and turning it into accessible, visually strong, brand-consistent assets for digital channels, with some support for offline materials. You will produce a wide range of content, including pitch decks, social media graphics, paid advertising creatives, videos, and other materials that communicate complex ideas clearly, with emotion and purpose. The work will support audience connection, brand visibility, fundraising income and wider organisational priorities.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate within project teams and work to briefs to create content and visual assets for both internal and external audiences, including video, photography, animation, social media graphics, digital assets and printed materials, whether produced directly, created within the team, or delivered with outside suppliers.
  • Act as a guardian of the brand, applying digital and accessibility best practice so that creative work is high quality, suitable for different channels and audiences, compliant with accessibility expectations, and evaluated effectively.
  • Support the Creative Content Manager in applying brand guidelines and making sure the charity’s visual identity, messaging, tone of voice and style are used correctly and consistently.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the organisation to deliver timely, relevant and effective digital content, including reactive communications, striking visuals and engaging video tailored to different audiences and platforms to help achieve organisational aims and increase fundraising income.
  • Assist with the management of the Digital Asset Management System by keeping assets easy to locate and use, ensuring they are current or archived appropriately, and supporting privacy and data protection obligations.
  • Partner with the Creative Content Manager and Senior Creative Designer to develop, roll out and maintain a branded set of self-service templates for use across the organisation.
  • Work with the Creative Content team and the wider Marketing and Communications team to review content performance and impact, use insights to improve future work, and share learning with other teams so they can do the same.

Safeguarding is treated as a shared responsibility. The charity is committed to protecting children, young people and vulnerable adults, and expects all staff and volunteers to support that commitment.

Depending on the duties of the post, the successful candidate may need to complete a satisfactory basic, standard or enhanced DBS check through the Disclosure and Barring Service.
